Ready-mix concrete (RMC) is batched and mixed at a dedicated plant to an exact specification, then delivered to site ready to pour — as opposed to concrete mixed by hand or in a small drum mixer on site. Because every batch is measured by weight rather than by eye, the mix is far more consistent from one truckload to the next, which directly affects the strength and durability of the finished structure.
RMC also speeds up construction. A site crew mixing manually can produce only a few cubic metres an hour; an automated batching plant can supply many times that, which shortens pour times, reduces labour on site and cuts down on material wastage from over-ordering. For contractors working to a schedule, that reliability is often as valuable as the concrete itself.
